the japanese where as brutal and effective as the nva, maybe even more so. but marines fighting in wwii had a better cause, and more heart in the fight. they suffered more. but came out victorious

@Spitfireanke I agree with your statement. It’s like they’re saying that the Marines who fought bravely over in the South Pacific didn’t suffer as much as the paratroopers who landed in Normandy & fought their way throughout Europe.
The Pacific has more meaning to me, because I’m of Palauan descent. The battle of Peleliu scenes & the interviews / the vets made me cry because it reminded me of the stories my grandparents told us about how sadistic the japanese soldiers were to the natives.

@Rush2547 Thanks Rush, I had missed that until you pointed it out. Yeah, I saw a lot of that too when I was in the service. It was like some guys were “walking dyslexic,” making their hands go forward with their feet on the same side, and we had to teach them to pretend that a wire was connecting their right hand to their left toe. They weren’t “pulling” anything, they just tried too hard and got it wrong.

I dont think this documentary/miniseries is not very accurate when it comes to historical details. unless it shows the real brutality of this war, and how japs and yanks mutilated the enemy. dead or alive ( this is well documented)
